I am divorced. My ex left me in 2010 and divorced me in October 2011. He first left me in April 16, 2010 and just recently when that day came I found myself reliving the day. Remembering when I came home, finding that dumb stupid letter full of lies and it felt awful. Does anyone else find themselves doing the same thing? I think its ridiculous. I am sure he is not reliving the moment of what he did much less thinking about it. Crap this really sucks. I didnt cry heck no but still i dont even want to remember that day.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

it happens to people who are now ex's, surviving family members after a death, even car accidents, miscarriages...all sorts of things
and what's interesting is, they happen even when the meaning of the date is outside of your awareness ( your subconscious hard at work - ugh)
its normal, and it almost always passes in a day or two
hang in there. try not to dwell on it to much. eventually you will heal and it will be a very distant ineffective memory.
you know who you are and how valuable really are. there are many people in the future that you have not met yet who will be touched by your compassion for them. don't let this keep you down for long. :)
Anyhow, my divorce date I relish. The 28th of ever month, like today, I think " I have been free for one year and 4 months" etc. Maybe it's a matter of perspective...letting the date keep me down keeps me tied, and i'm enjoying being free.
I guess I'm just more positive than negative. Heck, I don't even remember the exact date I kicked her out and I don't remember the date when she came back and cried because her mom told her I was getting remarried.
Life has some very tough times, many sad times and some very bad times. I doubt very seriously if she remembers when it was. I was made out to be the bad guy. I was the one who left. If I was the bad guy, why was she known as "the town slut"!!!!!!!! It has been over 40 years and I still hear things I did not know, back then!!!!
