Do you think divorce is in the gene's?

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this and was wondering what others think. How many of you are from a divorce home yourself? I know that I am and I was just sitting here talking to my brother about it and we looked at our family history. My mother and father divorced when I was young. I have had two bad marriages. Several of my brothers have had bad marriages. Is this a pattern or what?

my grandmother divorced...my mother divorced...I'm divorced. I don't know if it is the genes but I do know I can make it without having to deal with the bullsh1t

My parents were only married to each other and stayed married until my dad died in 1990. My mom has not re-married since. In my extended family, I have one cousin and one uncle who have been divorced out of dozens of cousins and uncles.

Needless to say, I don't think it's genetic. But I think there's something to be said for kids who grow up in homes where the parents are divorced. To them, I think divorce is a more normal way of life than it is for someone who only knows one set of parents who have been married for 50 years. Maybe the product of divorced parents would be more likely to get divorced him/herself later in life. I don't know. I'm sure there's a study about that, and I think I even have a book about that at home somewhere.

No divorces on either side of our families. Except stbx's brother, and there were drug and alcohol issues on BOTH sides of that one. The whole family thought that that was better over and done with.
