As she walked out, I begged her to consider a temp. separation to reconcile any concerns with our 29 yr relationship. I told her that she had no comprehension that a divorce is like a hurricane with no one leaving unscathed.
If after a divorce you believe that you have survived the worst, youre only fooling yourself, because now comes the tough times where you could be faced with:
1. Delayed emotional stress
2. Potential financial stress
3. Children struggling with the hurt.
4. Families/Friends divided.
With her new significant other, I really question if this was even a fleeting thought at the time.
Its amazing the trade-offs that she made to regain a lost youthful life that she said she had missed out on over the past 29 yrs. Today, for me to understand her logic would be total insanity. Do they ever understand or realize the outcomes??? I think not!

Most people who cheat gave up on the relationship a long time ago, and the discovery of the affair by the other spouse begins their dealing with the end of the relationship that the person who cheated has already gone through in some way.
Now his 4 kids don't talk to him, his family won't have much to do with him, his best friend won't have anything to do with him and his other best friend died recently. I hope she's enough to lean on because it's all he's got.
He gave up the most precious gift he's ever been given in the love and respect of his children and now that' gone too.
He's so lost and I bet he'd still tell you it was all "worth" it.
They never get it.....
For my EX - I truly believe the grass is greener on the other side. He got to walk away from an enormous amount of responsibility, move in with his mom, and is now livig the youthful life he loves. For him - this will probably neve lose it's appeal.
On Feb 1st..she got married...to the fellow she dated all through JR. high and High School!...yes 41 or 42 years later they reconnected. We never know what life holds in store for us..what is around the corner. We may think we lost all the JOY in our lives....but we have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow!.
As devastated and destroyed as I was by my own break up..my sisters story gives me hope!
as for them "getting it"...who cares! There is some greater plan for all of us!
My stbx knows that he is largely responsible for the breakdown of our marriage, yet he hasn't the guts to admit it. They are cowards and we are better off without them.
