No divorce party for me. I was devastated. After further clarity, I realized the severity of reality of that marriage was and then, I felt my lungs fill up with life. A delayed party perhaps?

No party for me either... (At least when the paperwork is done) But I think the idea is amusing.. and I can see how some people could use a celebration of sorts. I imagine it could be a somber reflection (maybe with a few laughs and alcohol lol) with good friends that have helped you through the rollercoaster. A celebration of new beginnings.

But I also think the "pop" or "modern" (metro?) ideal of disposable marriage may have something to do with it. For some it is mostly chic and hip to get married, so why not for divorce too?

I am not without a sense of humor nor am I against turning a buck, but damn. I find this less skeevy than Ashley Madison, but that's not saying much.

I have some pretty good friends. Some of whom are also bartenders.

That's been good enough for me.

I actually got a rubber stamp that says "congratulations on your divorce" _ I haven't made any cards with it yet, though.

One of the events for my Girl's Night Out group is someone's divorce party. I am not planning on going since I don't even know the person who is hosting the party.

I love it - I'm going to join and send out announcement cards to all my friends (ha ha) who didn't do a thing for me during the divorce.

this is a BRILLIANT idea.

Look, if people that have been living together for four years can have wedding showers to suck in cash, and get crap why NOT have a divorce party for those that have "lost" half their stuff in a divorce? THEY need it WAY more.
