I'm wondering what the difference is between dissolution, annulment, and divorce?
Also, I don't know how to get a lawyer for help. I have been a stay-at-home-mom for 5 years, and he is extremely controlling and abusive. Due to having a disabled child, a shelter is not an option. So, I'm wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation- Housewife without any money for a divorce.
He has never allowed me to be on the bank account- I'm not allowed to know any financial details. What can I do??

(I went to Ohio Legal Aid Society, and was turned down for legal services because my case is not a priority even though he is physically abusive towards me, verbally abusive to me and our autistic son, and looks at pornography in front him. I feel so stuck!!)

Dissolution and divorce is the same thing here. annulement usually happens soon after a marriage begins for various reasons.

You could call some shelters and they might be able to give you some resources. Or maybe if your son is in a special needs school there might be someone there who can help.

all states are different. for me, the last time the X (YAY, really my X now) threatened to kill me and I called the cops...they told me to call the Salvation Army, United Way and the Women's shelters. They said that all of those places have contacts for lawyers that do pro-bono work (free). determination is based on story and finances (which you have both behind you). if you need a reference, lemme know! also, lemme know if there's anything i can do for ya. you know i support you 100%...always have! much hugs and love!!!!!!!!!!

I'm assuming that he files taxes every year...and as most couples, would gain the most from filing in the "married, filing jointly category. Has he ever asked you to sign the tax return? Go look at last years return and see how much money he makes. Until you know that, getting assistance is going to be very difficult.

Basically, it would appear that dissolution is a friendlier and simpler way of getting divorced.

There doesn't appear to be much legal significance in the difference between a dissolution and a divorce.

An annulment, on the other hand, is very different. An annulment means, as far as the law is concerned, the marriage never happened.

An annulment can be granted for any number of reasons: impossibility (one spouse was still legally married to someone else and therefore could not marry their second spouse); illegality (one spouse was legally underage at the time of the marriage); the marriage was never consummated (never had sex); etc.

Annulments are hard to get, usually.
