Devastated and lost

After 7 years of marriage my husband walked out on me in March and spent the last 6 months pretending to come back. July 20th he finally decided to do "no contact" and has moved on with his life. I saw him last night hugging a young woman in her 30's. We're both in our 50's.


He has left me managing all the finances and house which I just sold and is giving minimal to help with the finances. We were so in love and intimate right until July 20th, I am left wondering was it all a lie?

You deserve way better than that. If they can do it with you, they can do it to you. It is a hard road to travel on. I was 57 when I threw in the towel. Enough was enough. No contact in any manner whatsoever. When you see him, just smile turn around and walk away. You owe him nothing. Get a lawyer, financial advisor and a therapist. Go to conselling on your own. He must have been testing the water to see if that "fish" was going to bite. Learn to be your own best friend and learn to love the one person that deserves it. "you" You will be fine. Hugs

That’s horrible. I’m so sorry to hear that, KatieGD. You definitely deserve better. Just like Atpeacemary said, get a lawyer, financial advisor, and therapy if you can. I know it hurts a lot right now, but you’ll get through this!

It's actually good he left you in charge of the finances. Get a divorce lawyer asap. You need to protect your assets.

Sorry he did this to you. What a jerk. He'll regret it later, but you will have moved on and living your new, happy life!

Sorry for your situation. Give yourself time to grieve and recover over this tramatic event first. Self care really important. Find a good support group of friends, clergy, lawyer and maybe financial planner to help smooth this project. It will be hard. But you will pass through, and you will be better for it. God bless you.

It wasn't a lie. I experienced the same thing after 15 years. He left everything at home because he wanted the option of returning. In my case, a younger woman promised him happiness and a child. He got the child. But he's still not happy. He said that it wasn't my fault. He had his own demons. Everyone tells me self care and love is the answer. I am struggling to define what that is. But at the end of the day, it was he who destroyed our marriage. So all I can recommend is that you close the door (at least for now) and try to find small things everyday that can occupy your mind. It may take time, but there is something around the corner for you.

    So mad at Xfinity!  They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today!  Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today.
