I was utterly devastated. I tried so hard to get her back but it wasnt what she wanted. At least you are getting help. I was off work for 9 months and fir 6 of it I hardly ever got out of bed. It was hell but I finally got help. I was experiencing what they call major depression and it's horrible.
But the reason I'm sharing this is because when I was in the thick of it I really believed the pain and suffering would never end. But it does. It's hard in the beginning because it's very traumatic to everyone involved.
It's good you stopped drinking. Also dont isolate. Try as hard as it may seem to be around people. I joined a support group where we met every monday evening and it helped. Talk it out. Read about what your going through. Keep the gym up because it helps with your mood even if you dont notice.
It will take time because theres a lot you have to adjust to and the healing is an process as well.
I can relate to wanting the security of home and family but in time everything will be different. My ex and I are very civil. We get along. I've had 2 relationships since she left. We are now divorced and she is with someone who seems to make her happy.
I dont have any I'll feelings towards her but I'm grateful we are not together. I dont miss her at all and you will find yourself where I am someday.
You will meet someone better suited and someone who would never leave. Be strong for you and your kids because it's not easy for them either. I promise you that you will get through this!
