deleting pictures

since our split in March, i've tried to spend time to go through the hundreds and hundreds of our pics and have been deleting them.

but i've run into some problems... a lot of events happend in my life during the years we were together (between 2006-2010). and i can't just delete all those events. i can't just delete 4 years of my life, either. i can't pretend none of it ever happened.

i'm kind of torn here. i feel like i should just forget about deleting the rest. or should i keep going and delete what i can? some of my friends have already stumbled across a pic or 2 and assumed i kept them because i miss the guy. i DON'T.

your thoughts? 2 cents?

Why do you want to delete some and not others? How do the pics of HIM make you feel when you see them? I'll answer after you answer.

I wouldn't delete them. Whether or not you like it those are part of your history. Of course I'm just a sentimental ole SOB who wants copies of all of the pictures we had because it was important in my life. I would just keep them and not look at them until I felt it was safe (emotionally) to do so. What you had with your ex informs who you will be in the future. What I learned living with my wife is a part of who I am and who I will be. The things that happened in that relationship will force me to learn how to do it better next time, and in all honesty there will be memories that I would hate to lose. I still love her very much, I just know that we can't be together.

I admit that I've tried to find pics of old girlfriend on fb...the 40th chick before my wife...Memories are still there, 25 years later.

the pics i was deleting was just he and i with nothing in the background or just him alone. or just him with his bastard cat.

the ones i was keeping was us at events with other people or things going on in the background or really nice scenery in the back ground (kept it for the scenery) or we looked really really happy cuz we did something cool. i guess i want to remember happy times in my life and not just pain. i want to remember cool things i did etc.

I know where your comming from ! I spent hours deleting and then he is on so many with my family members I just hate to delete. But I did anyway. Then on lots of days when he is not on my mind ,guess who comes up on the screen?? alot of pic's are stored in files and they randomly come up. I am used to it now and don't bother me so much but I really think no contact pic wise is good for the heart also. I have seen pic's of us on my family computers and they apoligize but I say it don't bother me none. I guess u have 2 follow your own heart in the end.

honestly, when i see him i get mad. but every once in a bluemoon i'll smile when i see a really happy pic of us.

i learned a lot being with that asshole. there were some good moments. lots of trying times to learn from.

Put them on a CD or DVD and then delete them from your computer.
I deleted every picture of my Ex off my computer - didn't save them at all.
Pictures suck big time. In June my son and I had to go through boxes of old pictures to find his baby pictures for the high school graduation party. It was disgustingly painful for us to look through them. We found 2 pictures and put the boxes away. I know I will never look at any of them again. It was just to painful to remember that we were a happy family at one time.

yeah i was thinking of the cd idea. and just shoving it off in a box somewhere so i don't have to look at them. somehow i still think i'll be stumbling across pictures by accident. it's like a curse! they're everywhere!

Can't you get something like Photoshop and edit him out? Maybe you can't take him out completely, but you could find a good avatar head and paste that over the ex.....hey, you could steal vac's velociraptor head and paste that in there...I'm sure vac won't mind..hee hee

Then when you open a pic of all those good times, you will be standing next to a guy's body with a velociraptor's head...no problemo....

I agree with others.save them on a CD. Some day it won't matter he is the other person in the pic. When you are old like me, you can look back and see how you were then..lol. Big hugs!
