The sad thing is, I was alone in my marriage for a couple of years before the divorce. Being alone now is actually much easier because I don't have her there as a reminder of how alone I had become.

Bigguy.. You have a point. I too was alone in my marriage. Would always ask - how is it possible to be sooo alone with all these people around?
It is different degrees of loniless.

Im a smiler by nature, so that wont be hard.
Thing is .. this guy is shy and quiet. How do you keep conversation going? I can talk up a storm but dont want to dominate the conversation. Any suggestions here?

patsdesertrose - it is possible to be alone while your spouse or s/o is right there. I am a witness to that. My STBX would be home but still not be there. Mentally & emotionally he was somewhere else. During the last year of our marriage he was never phyically home so I was alone even moreso. As time passed I have grown used to him not being around all of the time.

Oh been there done that Simply.. Have several tshirts to prove it. That is the worst feeling, having someone there but being ALL alone. I was "alone" the last 2.5 years of my marriage.
