I posted another thread and something interesting came up. I am wondering, how many of you left your spouse because of financial problems? ( i know other problems were there, too, but just wondering about the financial part). And, how much, that you know of, is he/she in debt?

Mine: $74,000.00 to what I just found out is a Loan Shark, (thought it was a personal friend), $18,000.00 to my mother, dont know how much to his parents, (But I know its a lot, they fight about it all the time), dont know how much to his brothers (3 of them) or sisters (3 of them, too). Not to mention what he owes on the house roughly $175,000.00, the bills, his business, his business bills, Snap-On credit, the list goes on and on.

Just curious:) Lets see who has the best (or worst) stbx!

My STBX left me shortly after she received her injury settlement check. Must have thought that she didn't need me anymore to help support her financially or emotionally. I guess she didn't appreciate anything I did for her while she suffered after her accident. I did everything, from buying her anything she wanted (like $5000.00 temper pedic bed and lending her $8000.00), to putting up with her alcohol and depression issues. Since then she has made a full recovery. I am reluctantly happy for her even though she blew through all her $100,000 in 4 months. Now she is trying to milk me for the little that I was left with.

Where do these people think this money comes from? Trees?!?! I think I might come in third or fourth place on this "contest"!!!

205,000 on equity blown away on business and furniture.
9,000. lypo for bubble but fix.
78,000.00 revolving credit
125,000. loss on the sale of the house due to divorce.
Possible 145,000. loss now due to closure of business if economics don't improve. All in 20 months time

Hey Rose...Saw your comment about your ex needing to learn the difference between wants and needs...Mine needed to learn that too. Maybe you "want" the young blonde at the bank, but really don't need her when you have a wife that loves you at home. You really don't need to hit me, but you want to and that's why you're alone now.

We had no mutual debt, THANK GOD!

wow, i thought the 8k of my stbx debt i was left with was bad. geez. i cant even imagine how these debts get into the 100k range. but i am going to pay mine off and get debt free for the first time since marrying her-iac tually had 0 cc debt at the time, and when she said she only had a few store cards, I didnt realize she was talking about 5k in debt. been drowing in cc debt ever since

Finances are definately part of our problem! I made some bad investments which have since been repaired but he never let me forget about it, it was/is the "Big White Elephant" in the room for us!
