Ok you win mine I can't touch that. The interesting thing about my stbx is she left me I think partly out of guilt. Ran up $25000 in credit debt. Of course she doesn't feel so guilty that she is not going to come after me for half. This is may second time down this road, last time she left she filed on $60,000 before we got back together, that was a big mistake on my part, taking her back.

I forgot to add that he bounced over 100 checks in a two month period!! I have the proof of that one:)

Actually, we had no financial problems until he moved out. Obviously he had this great plan about moving out but really didnt plan for it, had he told me I coulda planned it out for him, lol. So we are now working together to get it back to where it was and he has moved back in for finanical purposes only so we can sort it. Some people just dont think when they get these grand ideas.......

Finances were a factor in eroding my marriage. My stbx ran up approximately 86k in credit cards. Some of it predated my coming into the picture and some of it after. She just liked to live beyond our means. We dipped into my retirement to pay off some of it, took out a home equity loan to pay off more and borrowed a fair amount from my parents. There is still some left over and I am guessing that I'll probably get stuck with it. Like Wick's situation, I think her guilt played a factor in the split as well. Funny thing is that I recently learned from her brother that she did this once before and her parents had to re-mortgage their house to pay it off for her!

We didn't have any financial problems. But, since he left, my stbx has run up a $25,000 credit card debt and now he wants more settlement money from me because of it.

Wow! My stbx ran up a gambling debt of $25,900 on home equity line of credit and credit cards. This is not including what she cleaned out of the bank accts.

Can't give you a number figure...cos I am trying to forget it...but..yes it was a major part of the breakup.

HE was a big spender, a shopaholic, always wanting to be with the in crowd.

yeah I got the house..but you know what?.. in exchange for a few things...including paying off his personal debts, 8 credit cards, one line of credit, and a loan....and that was his debt.

He left me mentally, physically and financially bankrupt...and yes...collectors still banging on the door, and some guy suing me for a contract he had with him.

You got to discern between your Wants and your Needs.

I think I can "win" this one. My husband declared personal bankruptcy a few years ago and was forgiven a debt of over $400,000! You'd think someone with half a brain would learn from that. Since then he has run up debt on my credit cards and loans from friends, family and business associates. I'd say we're close to $100,000 on those. Words cannot express how I feel about this :(

Well, my husband has been able to get away with it because of how seriously I take our marriage vows. He's known that after each lie I'll take him back because of my beliefs. He's a master manipulator. Oh, and I forgot to tell you before what he does for a living (that is, when he does have a job). He's a stock broker!

My x and I didn't split because of money problems unless you count the fact that he was a control freak about it. We were actually doing really well...and I'll have a healthy settlement because of it. SINCE the separation is another story with him...it's almost like since he has to give so much of it to me, he's just given up. During depositions I discovered that he's borrowed $380,000 for one loan (farm, trailer, equipment), another $60,000 from his great uncle's estate, $15,000 from his grandparents, $25,000 from a lumber place, $3500 from one credit card, $8000 on another credit card, and $17,000 on another one. There's no telling what else is owed...I'm sure there's more...this is all I discovered for sure. CRAZY!!! That's over half a million! And he won't be getting half of the equity we have because there's missing equipment, cattle, and proven lies about charges with the farm. He's paying CS and lost my income that was supporting household expenses. His gf refuses to work and is now pregnant. She has no insurance and while I'm sure she is using medicaid (welfare fraud since she's living with my x who makes PLENTY in a normal situation to pay for a baby)...that will be an approximate $10,000 bill that my x will receive once welfare agency investigates the situation...only to have the baby taken from them if his gf isn't off her drugs. Oh and when a bill collector recently called MY house looking for his girlfriend, I gave them HIS information. :-)

I don't know what the total number is just yet. I'm sure I'll find out when we go to court on Feb. 13th. But I did find out about the affair he was having by going through credit card statements. $30K on mine alone. I also found $25K on some personal loan he took out, not to mention the $70K car he HAD to have. So, while I didn't know about most of this stuff (I did know about the car), I would say that we have quite a bit of financial garbage. Oh, and his solution? Walk away from the house. I'm seeing foreclosure in our future. Nice. Man, I hate him today.
