Whoever said "pathological" is an idiot or not seeing the whole picture.
My heart goes out to all of you that find yourselves in the predicament of having to justify your decisions, child-rearing choices to others.
I say eff it, do what you think is right. No one is perfect.
I think a parent's job is to show them how to love in a healthy manner, how to think for themselves and then make decisions based on the thought process, how to set boundaries for themselves, how to reason and ask why....
I think you have a very good feeling for what to do for the boys, as well as what to do for you....don't accept guilt.
But for me....if this is unhealthy so be it...I rather be unhealthy in that my girls are my life. I slowed down my career in order to be able to get home in time to have dinner with them to help with baths to read them stories before they go to bed. Even know....it might be hard for me on an emotional level but on the weekends I have them I am out and out about with them. I take them to parks where I see "happy couples" with their kids....the other weekend I took my daughter to a bday party to one her friends at daycare. It was hard watching after her and an 11 month old....but was my alternative to stay at home for my own sanity instead of going to the party where my oldest can see her friends any enjoy herself?? If I'm wrong here...I don't want to be right. You hear parents say I'll take a bullet from my kids....yeah well me personally I'd rather be unhappy and have my girls be happy than vice versa....that's just me. Again if I'm wrong I don't want to be right.
