OK...I had something happen to day and I really need some help. I went to the store today to replace some of the things the ex took yesterday. So I also do some grocery shopping today also, I'm in line and as I am putting everything on the belt, I look behind me and there is a gorgeous woman, late 30's, early 40's, amazing vibrant blue eyes, a smikin body and great smile. So I look at the finger, no ring, no band, no suntan lines, no skin wear...I think Hmmmmmm.... what do I say? I really really wanted to say something to her. We did exchange smiles and some funny comment, but that was it...I wanted to say something else, but had no idea what to say without sounding like an idiot or like I was TRYING to pick her up. BUT I really wanted to get her number and find out if she wanted to get some coffee or something and just talk or get to know each other. I know I am friendly, outgoing here and on the phone, but my ind was blank. This is what I fear the greatest...I was like this when I last dated (14 years ago!!!!) HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I don't want to sound stupid or dumb or like a pickup artist....I feel completely lost!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

Hell the check out line is a great place to meet pple... easier if you are next to each other mind you.. and can comment on something they put on the belt.. hmmmm

behind you eh?.. well.. I would make sure I made lots of eye contact with her.. and give her your best dazzling smile.. kinda slow down as you exit... so you can talk to her and pay her a compliment... like.. your hair looks great btw.. or you have a great smile.. I hope you don't mind me telling you that... see how she reacts.

If she sprays you with pepper spray.. bad sign
If she smile and thanks you... well.. you could ask her if she would consider grabbing a coffee or a juice with you right now.

Canadian, that would work on me I think. I actually like it when a guy is a little goofy at first and doesn't care what he looks like; makes jokes, a small compliment etc. If I look up, meet his eyes, and smile it is a sign he can ask for a number.

I had the exact same thing happen, I came back from a hunting trip, went shopping with a 8 day beard, saw a woman , talked noticed no ring, talked, asked if she was with anyone, went on a date next day, have been seeing her for a full month. See my journal. If I can do it after being with stbx for 27 years, brother you CAN DO IT.What is the worst thing that can happen, she says no??? Hey, we've both been rejected by our stbx's if you add another woman to the list does it matter. Nothing ventured nothing gained.DO IT

I definitely would not have offered to help her to the car with her groceries. That would send up red flags. However, I certainly would not have walked away saying nothing, either. The only stupid question is the one not asked. So, that being said, I might have made obvious eye contact with her, exchanged casual comments, then maybe wait outside and say something like "Hi, me again. I'm [your name here]. I hope I'm not being too forward but I was wondering if you would be interested in grabbing a cup of coffee or a bite to eat sometime".

By the way, my sister never weard her wedding band. It makes her finger break out --so never assume.

Always approach her in the store or just by the exit as you are both leaving..

Just do it man!.. go for it.
