So how do you deal with your sister & brother-in-law preacher after a big fight? We went on an out of state trip together to my grandfather's funeral. From the beginning, since booking the flight package, we couldn't agree, but they got their way. We maintained our composure at the funeral, but argued all the way home from the airport and they told me, "lesson learned, we'll never go anywhere with you again." But to put closure on this fight, they assured me they weren't mad at me and waited for me to say the same. I just asked, why would you be mad? You got everything you wanted, you have no reason to be mad. You picked the flight, you picked the trashy motel I refused to stay at but help pay for, you picked the rental car, then you made us leave early, allowing 2 hours for us to drive 15 minutes to the airport to wait for our flight. You shouldn't be mad.
Besides all that, my sister brought up all kinds of issues, like how I'm such a terrible gift giver, bc she asked for socks for Christmas and did I get her socks? No, I never listen. I said, "excuse me, I do listen. You told me last year you liked the perfume Beautiful by Estee Lauder, so I got you a small bottle of Beautiful." She had to think a minute and must have remembered, bc she didn't say anything then. Am I missing something? She would rather have socks than Estee Lauder perfume? WTF? Would I have stooped to her level if I had said I didn't like what she gave me, NOTHING? for the past years, nothing bc she's so damn broke. so how dare you even call me a terrible gift giver?

If it was more or less a one-time thing....I'd let it go. But if she's the type to use words as weapons all of the time.....I'd spend as little time around her as I could manage.
