Battle of the Lady Bugs

Every year in this area there is a war that is being waged. Yes, it is the war of the lady bugs. They creep into houses and take over and make this odd odor everywhere they go. Though you fight and fight and fight they will not go away. They keep coming back.

I have now resorted to using the vaccume on them and sucking them up into it.

Anyone else waging this war?

Once, and they were everywhere! And people order boxes of them for their gardens.
I used the vacumn as well.
Only the one time invasion but it sure was a invasion!

Yeah Heave....I've got em at my place in the UP of Michigan...they drive me crazy!!! I used to vacuum them too, now I have a guy come spray twice a year, so far so good, hardly any in the house! Woohoo!!

Gosh yea Heave, they are all over the place. If you vacuum them up your vacuum cleaner will smell bad also..just a note.

Arm and Hammer carpet powder does wonders for funny odors. I love the stuff and use it when I vaccume. Makes the house smell good and kills odors.

Do I ever sympathize with you! They'll be all over the place till spring. This year I had the outside of the house sprayed to try and keep them out. It worked for my neighbors. Hope it works for me.

I think they are actually called "Asian Lady Beetles" as they are the orange color rather than the bright red. It is their nature to migrate to southern facing cliffs at the end of summer...so instead they migrate to southern facing anything. I haven't encountered the problem since I've been in Colorado though.

None in Texas either,, we have cricket problems! They are allot noisier! Can't sleep for the little boogers!

I know this all too well, but this year I'm in an apartment and not in my house anymore. I won't have to wage the war anymore. But I remember coming home everyday from now until spring to suck up those little boogers in the vacuum. Used to love getting them in bed at night. They love to bite!

I love those things! I never noticed a smell with them though... Hmm.. I don't have them here but had them at my house when I lived there....

This made me laugh. My father in law, well almost ex father in law, still comes and mows my lawn and does other things around the house for me. He is an amazing man. Anyway he told me the other day that some lady bugs swarmed him and one bit him on the arm. I was laughing so hard, I had no idea lady bugs bit.

I"m watching one crawl up my curtain as I write this! They are the only bug that I let live..though not in the house, I at least carry them out side but they are always on the south facing side of the house! I've never noticed an odor though..ewww.

Courier is exactly right, at least here in SE Iowa, we have the invasion of the Asian beetles and they do bite. Plus the damn things hit the lights then fall down on you,and even though you know that's what they are...I still do the heebiejeebie dance and swat at my hair yelling "get it off, get it off"!!
