Ok I now its not good to bad mouth the ex especially in front of the kids. How long does it usually take until you stop bad mouthing the ex? or do you ever stop bad mouthing?
Keep moving forward, take the high-road as much as possible, and let them do or say whatever they need to, don't let them bait you.
Well it took about a year for me to realize that I was divorced from him, but my children would have to deal with his issues (and mine too for that matter) forever.
So really it's their right to complain, and I'm in the supporting role now. (And really vice versa.)
Look he's their FATHER. They need to be respectful of him, no matter what he's like. I'd expect that behavior of them around ANY adult.
Even the best kids in the world, will try to divide the two of you. The more of a united front you can present the better.
It shouldn't be done in front of the kids. I tend to try and repeat the mantra "he is your dad and he loves you" whenever the kids go off on one of their verbal tirades....
