My Dad always said life is a perspective problem; is rain good or bad? Depends on if you are farming or going on a picnic. When it rains, I'll be a farmer and be glad. When it's sunny, I'll pack a basket and rejoice.
My last 11 years destroyed me, one thing at a time, every even year, in Feb or Mar. Yeah, I miss my money, my health, my mom, my marriage and my career, but except for my mom, the rest seemed to work out great (for someone).
I keep thinking What If I didn't get MS... well, then, my DAD & BROTHER WOULD BE DEAD a year or two by now. I wouldn't have started LDN 4/03, and when they got DX with stomach cancer 3/07, given SIX months to live, he'd be gone by now. When my bro got sarcoidosis running rampant, he started it 4/07. Both are alive and stable. I'm stable too.
If I didn't lose all my money, the debt SHE gave us probably would have just kept going up up up... fueling her spending even more, and it wouldn't have been a factor in ending the marriage. Both of the above were factors in the last few years.
Losing my marriage and career turns out to be the final loss of chains, I'm nearly fully independent to live as stress-free as possible to keep my health at the best level.
I just had this discussion with my 14 yr old son. There's a lot more in there than I'd post publicly, but those are the highlights. More details is in my 1/4/09 journal.
It's been a wild ride... of LOSS... and now all that loss has shown potential going forward... THIS may be THE year to put it all together and turn things around
