I have been trying to improve my life, little by little, for the past month. It's only been a short period of time, but I created an exercise that makes you feel better.

Try to listen to someone closely. Don't just hear them, but listen. People are talking for a reason. Whatever it is they are saying, is probably important to them...can you hear me?...are you listening?...

I find that when you listen to someone, they appreciate the gesture. By doing this, you are performing a nice, POSITIVE act.

Try it here, as well as with a person face to face.

I try to do this a lot with friends. Maybe it's the years of therapy, but i've been told i'm a good listener. I know that i appreciate it when i need to be heard, that's for sure.

I have to say I know I am a good listener, I'm told I'm the therapist of my friends. *really need to start to charge them* LOL kidding..

Listening and offering advice to me is so rewarding.

In my profession as a hairdresser.I'm a good listener(sometimes I hear more than I want but will take it to my grave).
I also listen to what is not said...reading between the lines!!!

Debbie - you are so right! Whenever I go to the hairdresser - oh my god! There are about seven stations in one room and I hear it all!

you are right.Too often I am guilty of just waiting for the other person to stop talking so I can say what I have been preparing in my head while I was NOT listening to them but only listening for them to take a breath so I could jump right in.

Seriously, you are right Danny. I need to respond with my understanding of what they said so they can first know that I am LISTENING and second, correct me if I heard them wrong. If I do that, they will make time for me to talk and be understood later. Thank You.

I have my own studio salon...all by myself(I don't play well with other hairdressers).
People just let their hair down so to speak...omg....I've heard things that would make your toes curl!!!
