Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I have been on antidepressants a while now, long before I had my breakup. To be honest they probably give some relief but they are not a fix for a broken heart. I would recommend talking to someone, be it a professional or even a friend. It is a better way to process the feelings as they come rather than trying to numb or get rid of the pain.
They tried several on me but I believe it was Effexor that did the trick for me. I was seeing a therapist at the time and continued to see the therapist as I worked through the pain and my own issues. After I was able to get a better understanding of things and was able to let go of the stupid crap I was hanging onto, I was able to wean off the anti-depressant. I didn't like coming off of it and had some wicked withdrawal heacaches. Fortunately, I have not had to go back on them and hope I never do.
The Rx anti-depressants can be a useful tool to get you through some of the most difficult times, but they aren't a cure.
I know it works for most people but not for me.
That's why this second time I am doing my best to push through the pain. And I think it's worse this time around but I am going to get through this without medicine. Just pure inner strength and help from my loved ones and my friends on this forum.
I hope this helps you. Taking pills doesn't make you weak. It helps most people. But there are exceptions I think.

But I have just been prescribed Effexor and everyone recommends I do it
