Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. We had a few tence moments tonight. One of my co-workers stopped a car. Inside the car were three people. We had a complaint earlier that night about subjects with a gun and they matched the subjects that were in the car to a T.
I went to the scene to help him and to back him up. I told him that we needed to get the driver out of the car first, arrest him (being arrested for a non-related traffic charge), then bring the passengers out one by one and clear them, then the car.
The driver of the car is a confirmed violent gang member and an enforcer for the Bloods.
We got the passengers out one at a time (this is not a felony stop but we were still oh so cautious). The officer was searching the car incident to arrest and on the driver's floorboard, underneath the driver's seat, was a 380 auto handgun...Locked, Cocked, and Ready to Rock!
After this was found one of the passengers, whom hadn't been checked yet, started to reach into his pocket. We told him to stop but he didn't. At that point guns started coming out of their holsters and the guy stopped what he was doing. The guy was checked and nothing was found. The guy was reaching for a driver's license.
The driver was arrested for the non-related traffic charge, concealed weapon w/out a permit, and a very serious firearm charge.
One more gun off of the streets and out of a gang member's hands.

I have friends who hunt, but they only take their guns out for the event.
It boggles my mind that anyone would carry a gun. To think that anyone could shoot another human being (criminal or not) just makes me sick. I mean really, in the thick of the moment, most people who carry guns legally wouldn't have the gumption or mental stamina to shoot the criminal in question. Either that or the bad guy would outsmart the victim and snatch the gun away or shoot them first. In this scenerio, experience always will win. Just because a person carries a gun doesn't mean they are adept at using it. Plus it angers me that I and those I love are always in danger or a misfire or accident because some housewife or vigilante wannabe is carrying a gun.
