Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. We had a few tence moments tonight. One of my co-workers stopped a car. Inside the car were three people. We had a complaint earlier that night about subjects with a gun and they matched the subjects that were in the car to a T.
I went to the scene to help him and to back him up. I told him that we needed to get the driver out of the car first, arrest him (being arrested for a non-related traffic charge), then bring the passengers out one by one and clear them, then the car.
The driver of the car is a confirmed violent gang member and an enforcer for the Bloods.
We got the passengers out one at a time (this is not a felony stop but we were still oh so cautious). The officer was searching the car incident to arrest and on the driver's floorboard, underneath the driver's seat, was a 380 auto handgun...Locked, Cocked, and Ready to Rock!
After this was found one of the passengers, whom hadn't been checked yet, started to reach into his pocket. We told him to stop but he didn't. At that point guns started coming out of their holsters and the guy stopped what he was doing. The guy was checked and nothing was found. The guy was reaching for a driver's license.
The driver was arrested for the non-related traffic charge, concealed weapon w/out a permit, and a very serious firearm charge.
One more gun off of the streets and out of a gang member's hands.

I believe the law as far as handguns go is "open carry" is permitted. Meaning, so long as the gun isn't concealed, you can carry a gun virtually anywhere without anything more than the gun license, whereas if you want to conceal it, you need a concealed weapons permit.
And if you have a concealed weapons permit in VA, you're not allowed to conceal your handgun in a restaurant that serves alcohol, but anyone is allowed to openly carry a handgun in such a restaurant.
The laws are weird.

Heave, and people like him, put their lives on the line to protect us from the bad guys, there are not enough words to express my thanks for your service.
I read this and think, I HATE guns.. No use for them especially handguns. Saturday a 20 year old mom was shot dead 2 miles from my house because some idiot fired 16 rounds from a handgun into a crowded bar. All this because he got into an arguement with another patron. The young woman was an innocent bystander.
The guy who was involved in the altercation was hit by several bullets but survived.
THe guy is in jail, no bail. He has 3 year come-back time in federal prison. On top of that having a weapon after being a convicted felon is a 5 year miniminum mandetory. The concealed weapon charge is a misdemeanor. Worst he is looking at is 9 years. Still nice to get him and the gun off of the streets.
I am trying to shake up some of the rookie officers who think that the place we work is just a sleepy little town. It isn't any longer and I keep on telling them that we are going to end up in a shoot out sooner than later. I hope that they listen to me and start watching out a little more because some of their officer safety is poor.
A .380 is a fucked up gun. Its small enough to hide, and does a lot of damage still at close range. Good job. Worked a car show where one guy had 2 law 12 shotguns strapped to the panels of a hummer. The Law 12s ar eno longer made. I wa sin love with this guys set up lol Car lovers will usually hide a gun in the engine area or inside the door panels. Just be careful in case you guys pull over someone that looks like hes had a lot of money put into his car.
