I used to frequent this website a lot, but I'd forgotten about it because things have been great in my life. I aced all my pre-requisite courses and GRE (this was while going through my divorce), and am about to start a graduate program which will lead to a new, great career for me. I'm in one of the top programs in the country! I have gotten to this place in my life where I am happy on my own--even if I don't have plans--and have all sorts of projects, hobbies, etc. which I look forward to. I worked really hard to get through the pain and grief, lots of counseling, psychiatry, leaned on my friends and family a lot. Lots of crying, sick to stomach, wishing I were dead... But here I am today, doing just great. And the icing on that cake is that I met a wonderful man 6 months ago, when I wasn't even looking! I know he was attracted to the positive energy and confidence I came to have. I just want everyone to know that even though you think you are alone in your pain, that your situation is the worst of all, that you think things will never be okay again, that you will never be happy again--it's not necessarily easy, but you WILL get there. I promise. Just as people before told me I would, and I didn't believe them! You all will too. I promise! And you will get to the point where you don't think about your ex, or that if you do, it doesn't break your heart. I'm even past wishing something bad will happen to him. I don't care anymore! It takes time and work. Work hard through your pain, stay as positive as you can, get out of the house, examine your life and make the necessary changes. Don't be afraid to ask for help. You are going to be okay. You will be amazed at how strong you find yourself to be. After going through this, you can get through anything!
