I moved in with this guy 3 years ago to help him take care of his little girl. I fell in love with them both and I hated to spend any time away from them. I thought that he felt the same way about me. We started haveing intament relationships but about a year and a half ago it became an abusive relationship. I stayed for the little girl because I thought if he was hitting me he wouldn't hit her. I had to leave them in June after he tried to kill me and there is not a day go by when I don't think of them. I love them both so much but I can't put myself back into that situation where I could be hurt or killed. He keeps calling me telling me that he wants to marry me and that not only did he lose his best friend but the best thing that ever happened to him. My heart is broken in to so many pieces that I can't put it back together. I need some support if anyone wants to give any.

You did the right thing leaving him. An abuser always says he's sorry after he's abused his loved ones.

My suggestion is that you see a counselor who specializes in battered women.

You are still very young and have a bright future ahead without this bozo. As for the little girl, where is her mother in all this. If you think he may be abusing his child, call the authorities and call the school where his child attends and let them know of the family environment.

The biological mother is a crack addict and has 3 other children (2 of which were born addicted to crack). Her whole family smokes pot and they don't care about the little girl. As for the school she attends ... she doesn't. The only reason she went to pre-k last year is because I went and enrolled her and CPS knows all this. She calls me mommy because I was the only woman in her life from the time she was 2 until she turned 5. I talked to his mom the other day and she told me that the little girl thinks it is her fault that I left and that I broke her heart in a million little peaces (sp?). I want to talk to her so bad but that would involve talking to him first and I don't want to do that.

You are almost exactly the age I was when I dated a man that had a young son that he was mean to. At that age I was ready, willing and able to give up my life to make sure that little boy had a good life. Then I realized that I had a life to live and that I didn't have to take his abuse to protect his son.

Find someone and start a happy life. Believe me, I know how you feel about wanting to save a child more than you want to save yourself. You BOTH deserve a peaceful life. Consider yourself hugged {{{{Charity6262}}}}

Thanks for that. CPS contacted me the other day and asked me a few questions. I told them the truth and they said "Well why didn't you come to us when all this started" I told them because I was there. Even when he was high on drugs I could still cook, clean, take care of her, and go, to work, but now that I am not there I worrie for her. I also told them that nobody in his family wants her they all told me they would put her up for adoption. So I told them if they needed to place her I would take her in a heart beat with no questions asked. They said they would consider it so all I can do is wait and pray.
