Advice needed...possibly reaching out to ex?
I know everyone is tired of seeing my posts about my breakup - trust me, I'm tired of writing them. It's been 9 months since my breakup, and 4 months since we've spoken. I've tried dating other people, I've started therapy, and I've spent the entire year working on myself and doing what I've wanted to do for years. Aside from this breakup, 2019 has been an absolutely amazing year for me.
I recently started talking to someone and I've decided that he is not right for me. I'm now considering reaching out to my ex, just to open up the line of communication. I've never known love like I had with my ex, and I do truly want a friendship with him, if nothing more. I just don't know how to reach out to him. I was stupid and unfollowed him on instagram, but he's still following me. I don't want to randomly follow him back and look pathetic.
Can you all please help me and give me guidance on how to proceed? It doesn't help that I just saw "The Notebook" for the first time lol. I'm sure I sound absolutely crazy in my posts, but it's kind of a feeling like when you know, you know? I seriously prayed last year for my soulmate to enter my life, and then 3 days later met my ex...and I've been holding on to that.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
Continue to work on yourself and your goals.
Do not go back to the past, leave it there, in the past.
"If he wants to get back in touch with you, YOU will be the FIRST person to know".
So I let it be, and he did reach out. That was 17 years ago. We have been together ever since.
If your ex wanted to be with you, he would have let you know. Since he hasn't, it is safe to assume he doesn't.
Sorry...
I have re-read sone of your previous posts and it seems that you have repeatedly reached out to him and have been repeatly rejected. I think you have the answer to your question right there.
Continue to work on yourself. Stay busy. Keep going on dates with other people. If it is meant to be with your ex, your paths will cross again some day. Don't force it now. It is too soon for any type of friendship even. He will not be open to that.
(I do remember your posts and there were a lot of issues, don't forget about those. He was long distance, he said he "enjoyed getting to know you".... which sounded more like he wasn't as into a relationship as you were.... And then he promptly started dating someone else. You deserve to be treated so much better! You will find the right guy. It's not this guy.)
I'm glad you have been having an amazing year otherwise. It is totally understandable that you would want to share that happiness with someone you love, who cares about you. But this person has treated you badly. He does not deserve you and will continue to disrespect you if you reach out. I think when we get a little tired, or reach a plateau or a rough spot in what we're doing, our mind goes back to what is familiar and comfortable. I really, really think he is NOT going to make your life better at this point, only worse. Please don't reach out right now, keep working on you, getting out and meeting new people.
