DOUBLE LOL!

After two failed marriages and one failed 12 year partnership, I still believe you can find 'the one'.

We choose our mates through our own paradigm; how we view ourselves and the world. If our baggage and need is what we use to find our partner, it's doomed from the start. If we take the time to become the people we were meant to be; the best we can be,..our choices will narrow down and we'll find what we're looking for.

And, I believe it will work. I'm going to have to take my own damned advise too.

Yes it is possible. I know people who are doing it. It takes two people who "get it", who are committed, and who don't buy into the fast food pop culture. It really is hard work but it absolutely can be done.

I've posted this video on this forum before, with the late June Callwood, ( from 1:40 - 4:30) and she talks about how a marriage goes through different stages, and how any one of them can be difficult but if you stick it out you get to learn how to love in a different way.

I dont know if thats what happened with my parents who were married until my dad died, but I know they went through a renaissance of sorts after my dad sailed to the West Indies for a year and my mom lived in France. But I am fairly certain his brother, my uncle and my aunt both have that kind of marriage. They still hold hands together and have many tender moments like dancing in the kitchen (hi MaxiDale), and they've not only been married for over 40 years, they also run a business and work together every day.

I just spent the evening with my exhusband and my son (getting things done for his upcoming confirmation). We would have been married 20 years just this past Thanksgiving. He is preparing his life to marry his next wife. But we hugged and teased and laughed with each other, and talked about how in some way we've been a couple all this time. Not a married couple anymore, but co-parents and friends, and just plain 2 people who love and are affectionate with one another. Maybe some loves dont fade away, they just change??

On some level, I believe ANY two people can be happy together forever. It just depends on how hard BOTH people are willing to work at it, and how much comprimise and/or acceptance they both have in them.
Like I said, nobody else is responsible for our own happiness. Maybe it sounds stupid or naive, but if you lower your expectations enough, and have enough love and compassion, anyone could be perfect in your eyes. It's up to you. All depends on your definition of perfect.
