Hi. I'm Christina and I live in Las Vegas. I'm going through a divorce with my husband of 12 years. We have 3 kids, 9, 10, and 12. This last year has been awful. He is unable to maintain a job, so I was the breadwinner of the family.
While I was at work last summer, he was abusing the kids. It got to the point CPS was called. We did counseling and jumped through the many hoops CPS put in front of us. During all of that, our oldest was admitted to the hospital for suicidal thoughts. After she got home, the counseling was 6 days a week.
We took a short trip on Halloween, and he told me he wanted to go to dinner with some friends from high school. We had a nice dinner and came home. Fast forward to December, and while I was at work, he was surfing porn and dating websites.
In February, on the day CPS closed the case, his "friend from high school" blasted on Facebook about their affair because she was tired of waiting for him to leave me.
He moved to be closer to his friend so he now lives 400 miles away. Yesterday, I went to the lawyer and signed divorce papers. Knowing everything he did to me and the kids, why does it still feel bad?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

It is a tricky thing to love someone who is obviously a terrible person. I think we do it because we are needy and that person represented someone who could potentially meet our needs.
Have you been to counseling to figure out why this guy remains in your heart and how he got there to begin with?
Hope you and your children can work through this and begin healing.
You and your children are in my prayer. Peace and healing to you, Chris.
Im sorry.
Its going to take some time to wrap your head around what has happened and what is your next step. it appears you may just be going through the motions right now.
Welcome to the group
I blocked him and his friend on Facebook, but with the kids, no contact isn't an option.
I hope with time that we will feel better. Its hard being with someone so long having kids and dealing with the breakup. Take care.
& it sucks. IT SUCKS.
But apparently we have to go through it, so gather support around you & let yourself go through whatever emotional ride you have to take.
Remember to look for good things every single day too. You deserve & need that in order to hold on through the difficult parts.
Everyone tells me it gets better with time, & by doing the personal work through counseling, you are helping yourself along
