I've been more depressed lately but tonight I'm feeling inspired.
Many of you know the story, but for those who don't: I'm fresh out of college. When my breakup happened, I lost my job, apartment, and the man I thought I was going to marry. We built a life together that has completely vanished. Now I'm 23, living with my parents, and don't have a career yet.
I realized this isn't a bad thing. This is a huge opportunity. How many people get a blank slate in life to do whatever they want with nothing & nobody holding them back? This may be the only chance I get before I settle down with a career and family. I'm thinking something along the lines of travel or moving to a different state for a little while. Something that I'll look back on in a few years and say "wow, I had so much courage in such a dark time!"
So...what would you do in my situation?

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

I would say to take the time to define the morals, values, and ethics to which you will adhere throughout your life.
Such adherence will set the standard for the type of person, friend, partner, and parent that you will be along with what you'll accept from a friend and partner.

Hopefully you'll be blessed to meet someone that considers eating hot dogs and beans with the thermostat turned down to be the trip of a lifetime if they are with you
Picking my kids up from practice after school and running them to a sleep over is the trip of a lifetime, sadly all too often, I focus on the "hectic" runaround and miss the beautiful reality
I'm sorry for not being clear and concise but I think what in try to say is in there
All the best,
So, as I was reading your post and thinking what would I do: Here's something I would do if I were 23 and just graduated from college: I would spend the six months studying a foreign language and then applying for jobs overseas teaching English (perhaps for 1 year!) That would be a fantastic opportunity to go to another country while working and getting the experience of a lifetime. It may also look good on your resume. You could also apply with the Peace Corps. Who knows....? I would just do something so different and outrageous and have the time of my life, Like they say: "Living well is the best revenge!"
Good luck and happy holidays to you!
Best of luck!
