Wow, I can't believe that it has been two years since I joined DS and three years since I moved out of my home.......where has the time gone? Well here is any up date, first let me put my separation and divorce into context for those he do not know me, my wife and I of 15 years separated on October 31 2009 and I was completely unaware that this was permanent. What I did not know was that my wife had been having an on again off again affair with a man for a number of years without me ever knowing.....I wasn't not devastated by that, what I was devastated was that she never gave us a chance to repair the marriage.....I had no choice but to try and fix myself....I stopped drinking altogether(I did drink much but I didn't want it to become an issue)I started to work out and I got diagnosed with type II Bipolar. I went to extensive counseling for the first six months and would have gone more if I could have afforded it. My mantra was and is, if I have to go through this I was going to come out a better Man, Father and Friend and that the pain, grief and loss would not be in vain. I also started to work out, dropping 25lbs and started eating more healthy.(I recently bought a jucier...amazing lost 10 more lbs I will share this on another post :) )
The other thing I did I quit corporate America......I felt that it did more to my demise than anything in my life.....so what did I do for money? For one year I ran a marina/store in the San Juan Islands, last year I went back to corporate America only to affirm why I wanted to get the F&*k out of it.....so then what? Well I became a bar tender at a private golf club here in Seattle and I loved it, so what did I learn? Well the year up in the Island I learned that I did an amazing job, people loved me and they wanted me back.....but that was a badge of honor and I wear that proudly. My time as a bartender I never mixed a drink in my life never served food....it was a very humbling experience but I met some amazing people. I excelled at my job(I am a very humble man for me to say this people know it very true and from the heart) and I was asked to become the bar manager last month....but I quit this job...yes you are reading this correctly I quit the job, why well here comes the next chapter(and I hope the most exciting part) I BOUGHT A COMPANY!
Yes I signed the papers today and I now am a small business owner ! Ever since I have been a wee boy I have dreamt of have my own
business and building it into something great.....and I will! My goal is to make my children proud of what I have done everything I do I do for them.
It has not been an easy journey....there is not a day that goes by where I don't pause over the loss of my marriage, it has taken a very heavy toll on me emotionally. Just the other day I was at the house getting the kids and I started to feel sick and I was getting light headed....it was like someone was squeezing me(there is a part of me that still cannot comprehended that the marriage is over) What I accomplish I did on my own, no one can take that away, I do struggle with depression from time to time, but I throw myself into my work and this keeps it in check.
I want to thank all my friend on DS....you mean so very much to me and during my darkest times I feel you all saved me.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
you took risks, you tried different things, you put yourself out there.
What I like most is that you are living life and finding peace without having to be in a relationship...I applaud you!
