"I have my friends and my wonderful family but its not the same as having a husband. Even though I know I am way better off with out him today I hurt."
Wow, I can so relate to this! Sometimes, it seems to hit out of nowhere (like for you, the issue about your rings, and for me yesterday it was exchanging emails with him about our pending divorce).
IDK about the question what to do with the rings. I have similar questions--what to do with the rings (which I wiill never wear again), even what to do with the marriage certificate. Would it be cathartic to get rid of that stuff, or better to hold onto them for some possible future semtimental value? Right now I need to keep them out of view because just seeing that stuff sets me to tears.
Take care. You felt better before, and you wil again!
It gets easier, eventually
I have learned to anticipate reactions and emotions after living with him for so long that when something comes out of left field it throws me for a loop, but thankfully I have taught my self how to roll with it and recover quickly.
Thanks for the responses and support. This is why I love DS!
I think anything you can do to move on is healthy, but you do have to do it at your own pace. I had things that belonged to my ex that I only got rid of in the last six months. It just takes time.
Sending loads of healing hugs!
If you can get the rings out of pawn I would do that and then sell them for the gold. They have to be worth more than what you received when you pawned them. I got almost $600.00 for two wedding bands and a few pair of earrings.
I've been divorced almost 5 years and it still hits me once in a while. In the end he's really not worth the thoughts and tears I sometimes hold back. I can say you will get past this in time and you will learn to hate the word time as it applies to your emotions right now.
Don't destroy that marriage certificate. I don't know how long you were married but you might need it to apply for social security later. It's a lot easier to keep that than have to get copies later. If you've been married for ten years or more you are entitled to collect off your ex spouse. Keep copies of divorce decrees too. I have mine saved in a file folder.
He was telling me he went to the doctor and they told him that his liver issues were coming from his meds and not his drinking. I didn't say anything in reply but was rolling my eyes the whole time. Then he went on to tell me about his weekend (even though I DIDN'T ask) and his son and granddaughter came to visit and the house was full of the whole family and how he didn't drink the whole time. OKay yeah bravo jackass, the only reason you didn't drink was because you are broke. I didn't say that because I really didn't want start a big ole ordeal but I sure did think it.
So yeah I am over missing his ass and back to being pissed at him where I shall stay until indifference comes in.
