I'm not sure how to express this so it doesnt come out sounding materialistice or whatever, cause I don't mean it that way. One of the saddest things for me is to watch the commercials on TV where the male gives the female presents: flowers, jewelry, etc. Its sad to me because each time it reminds me that I no longer have and may never again have anyone who will do that. It's not the gifts themselves. It's the romance of it.
It's hard going in to the Christmas season and knowing the only gift I even might get will be from my sister. Again it's not about the gift and I know that's not what Christmas is about. It's knowing there is no point in fixing a special meal cause it would be way to much for me and way too much trouble for one person.
Yes, I know I can volunteer or go to friends, etc.....but that really doesn't help or make me feel better. There are alot of things I can do that I dont mind doing by myself. But there are some things,it just doesnt work. And going with girlfriends is not much better.
Ah well, I can muddle through it.

Right after ExH left me for a woman with three kids (after telling me he didnt want any) there was this Kay's Jewlery commercial that was on TV like, non stop, where a man is on a swingset with a young girll telling her how much he loves her mom and such, and gives the little girl a necklace.
Yeah, talk about a dagger right to my barely beating heart.
Last holiday season was tough, because I had no big gift item to look forward to buying. It gets better :)
