Hi. Didn't think I'd be back here so soon, but here I am, once again, in distress.
So I met a girl, an old girlfriend from before my ex. Long story short, she never got over me, has had a really rough life, is really sick and is on the verge of dying. Because of my love of her from before, I decided to go back to her, and fell back in love with her as if it was yesterday.
She broke up with me 15 years ago due to family pressures, and her mother moving her away from me. It hurt me a lot, and took a year or so to get over, before I met my ex. Since being back with her, we reconnected, shared, and overall it has been great. The chemistry is amazing, I haven't felt this happy in what seems forever, and up to last night, all was perfect.
Yesterday, she started to pressure me to talk to my family about her staying overnight at my place. My mother wants nothing to do with this, and doesn't want her over. I told her this, hoping to strafe off the situation, but she decided to contact my mother and that upset her. Long story short, I tried to mend that fence, and fix it, when she went and posted something on FB about how my mom won't give her a chance and how she is making our lives hell, when in fact she isn't.
So we got into a big fight over this, because it seems like she is trying to pull me away from my family, and that is exactly what I ex did, and I don't want that. Since then, it has been a massive fight, we have broken up, gotten back together, broken up, back together, and now broken up once again.
I'm lost. If we stay broken up, she is going to die. She is going to kill herself, whether through actual suicide, or by giving up the will to fight, and letting the plethora of disorders she has take her. She holds this over my head, and it makes me feel extremely guilty. I have no idea how to handle this.
She has given me this strange power, that when I'm around everything for her is better. Her heart does better, her BP is better, no seizures, she sometimes can stand even though she is paralyzed in her lower legs. When I'm not there, she is sadder, seems depressed, almost like withdrawal. I've been going over everyday, for 10+ hours a day, just to comfort her, and try to make her feel loved, and to help her feel better, but it isn't enough.
She is talking about finding a place for us to live, she wants me to help raise 2 out of the 3 kids she has, she wants me all to herself. If you know me, you know I'm sick with my own stuff, with MG and all, and I don't see how I can raise kids. Also, due to being sick, I'm on disability, and let me tell you, trying to find assistance for housing in NJ is like trying to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. It doesn't exist.
So we are at the point where I can't do what she wants, she is upset at me for this, and feels I don't have my head on straight and needs time to think about if I love her or not enough. We fought for 2 hours again tonight, over the phone, to where my MG is so bad that I can barely walk. I've been typing this for over an hour, in which this normally takes 10 minutes. She is really screwing me up inside and out, and I can't handle it. But I also can't handle this guilt and control and manipulation she is pulling on me with the "death card".
So what am I supposed to do in this? Is there anyway that isn't going to completely devastate me? Did I make a seriously stupid move and now need to live with the consequences? If you were me, would you have done any of this? And if you did, how would you handle all this pressure and demand?
I'm sorry that this is so long, but I have to get out. And I'm sorry for needing help again, but I'm a complete wreak right now, and I trust you guys a lot. So thank you from the bottom of my heart, for trying to help me. I feel trapped and screwed. I feel helpless, so very helpless.

Striving for, or asking for, what you really need or desire is not selfish. And--turn this around... why should you always give to make someone else happy? Should they not also give to make you happy? Life is give and take. There is much joy in giving--I love to give--but there also needs to be something in return. A two-way street. A person can't just only give... the well needs some replenishment. Even if just a little. AND... THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU ASKING FOR WHAT YOU WANT. Asking and simply taking are two different things. A selfish person just takes.
"I also don't know how to assert myself in a way that isn't just laughed at and not considered reality."
That tells me that everyone has always seen you as giving, and so they've learned that that is all you do--some maybe even take advantage. Just keep speaking up for yourself sometimes and people will learn that you're not just a doormat.
The laughter and such hurts, and stresses me out because it causes drama. Stress, as proven recently, is still very dangerous for me so I avoid it. I think me being sick might be another reason I'm so submissive. It is easier to eat it, and suck it up, then to fight for what you want. Less stress, and less stress is a great thing for my body. I don't know. Tonight I'm just in a really weird mood, and too many conflicting feelings in my heart. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
I had that very same thought about my XGF far too often. Of course I can't know for sure, but she also exhibited many of the signs of BPD, though not to the extreme yours did.
Bottom line is you'll never, ever understand. I went over and over it for months and months and months, never gaining an iota of clarity and understanding. Oh, I read up on BPD and have a good understaning, but that doesn't mean I can relate to the tortured thinking that disorder cutlivates.
One thing about BPDs , if either of our X's really are, is they have a way of REALLY turning it on right up-front, sucking you in and making you feel you are the absolute best thing that could ever happen to them. It's quite an intoxitating feeling...
Hang in there guy. You're going to have to sort it all out, but be prepared to focus the sorting out on you, because you're just never going to be able to come to an understanding of her you can relate to.
I don't know what to do here. My heart is pulling me one way, towards her, and yet everyone else is saying I'm being stupid and making a terrible decision, and am only going to destroy myself if I follow it. Is there any reason I'm being so stupid here? Why am I unable to listen to everyone's good advice, without these feelings being so hard to cope with. Forgive me, but truly I'm lost.
So she made this very easy for me. I don't deal with betrayal. I don't deal with lying. If I don't lie to you, you don't lie to me is my motto. So I suppose those feelings are going to be gone. I feel so stupid for giving this girl another chance. I feel so ridiculously stupid right now.
I get the sense in some ways you're like me. I can be very trusting and always look for the best in others. If it turns out I'm being played, I always have the consolation of a guilt-free conscience after it all sorts out.
In the end, who's really worse off? The deceived or the deceiver?
That is my problem mostly. I am far too trusting. Far too open. Far too easily betrayed I guess. At least I caught it this time, before the damage could be too severe. I'm thankful for that.
Not stupid... just in love. The heart wants what the heart wants and as much as the brain can tell it different, it takes time for the heart to catch up. Yours received a turbo boost today due to her deception. You have walked away now because you have morals. That's a good thing, not a stupid thing. Pat yourself on the back now... but slap yourself upside the head, very hard, if you slip again and even think about contacting her--but I don't think you're going to. :)
