16 yrs of lies...

I'm 27 and yesterday my step mom pretty much told me she was ganna ditch my dad for a guy only 5 yrs older then me...


My step mom, whom I have considered more a mom then my bio mom, apparently hasn't been happy in her 16 yrs of being with my dad. They just celebrated 16 yrs in April!


She pretty much cheated on him and the next day told him how she felt and told him he could stay married but only as friends and she could go do whatever with who ever OR he could divorce her and leave. No option of her leaving. Everyone is still trying to get a grip with everything she keeps throwing at us right now. My bf and I aren't worried about my step.mom at all, oh no! We are worried about my dad! No one is giving him support except us. Everyone is going to my step mom cuz she's making this all about her...like usual. 


Sigh


I have no clue what to do or think about this besides hurt and betrayed massively. Doesn't help that I cant talk to my usual people about all this either...they are all traitors along with her.

You are too young to shoulder such pain. You need to reach out and get help for yourself. Ask your dad to come with you. He is going through a rough time as you can see. Talk to a lawyer to see what can be done. Gee, I would pack her bags and tell her to high tail it to her current flavour of the month. Remember one thing "if they can do it with you, they can do it to you."

That's hard to see your dad have to go through this. No one deserves this. If she wasn't happy she should of left long ago! Just support your dad best you can. I hope he files right away. No one needs that type of marriage.

Sounds very difficult and my sympathies with your dad.

Just from what you briefly outline it sounds like she is having a mid life crisis

Sorry this is occurring in your family. I realize this has caused you to hurt, yet, this is between your dad and her. All you can do is be supportive of him. If he asked for your help, please remember that you are there to help and support him, not berate her or share your feelings or make it more difficult for him. Maybe you could be praying for your dad for strength and clarity and pray that you can give him all your support, unconditionally.

The best thing you can do is be there for your dad, I know he probably will have a hard time sharing with you because your his child but let him know you are in full support of him and if he needs a shoulder that yours is available. This is my opinion obviously you dont have to take my advice but it's what I would do.

Who owns the house? Do they own it together, or did one of them own it before the marriage?

Please make sure your dad talks to an attorney ASAP. Many will give a free initial consultation.

How old is this woman?

I think this other guy who is only 5 years older than you, is going to lose interest once your step-mom is 100% available. She may be just one of a half-dozen or so options he's keeping open. However, that should not stop your dad from taking action. Just giving my perspective - sorry you're going through this.

    I'm horrified!  I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000.  I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter.  I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change.  Now this!  I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000.  I guess I have to pay...
