Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
This is just a "factoid" that I heard recently and thought I"d share.
Have you ever walked from the living room to the kitchen, gotten into the other room and forgotten why you came into that room, or what you wanted to get? It turns out crossing a door jamb ( going through that doorway) literally makes you less able to remember why you came there. It often helps to go back to the original room, sit and retrace your thoughts, and there's a good chance you'll remember the reason !
I know this happens to me. If I go back to the living room and continue to do what I had been doing when the thought came, I will often remember it! Could this be true for you?

Write everything down. Use your computer - keep a separate page for: water, mortgage, insurance, doctors, electricity, phone, bank, stuff on order, everything - what number you dialed, who you spoke with, who is supposed to do what, who's court the ball is in, etc.
This is the only way I have been able to survive.

As far as getting to the other room and forgetting why you are there??? Get used to it and don't let it get you down.
We use different parts of our memory at different times .
Sometimes a picture (like the doorway to the kitchen) can trigger the lost thoughts .
I hate when normal people say that happens to us all .....
