Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
The pituatary gland controls our bodies ability to absorb, create and distribute the nutrients we need. Where's it located??? In the brain.
I look at how I'm feeling...depressed, tired, don't feel good? Vitamin D...the feel good vitamin! Stressed out? Vitamin B....calms and helps maintain stress levels also helps fight fatigue.
See what I mean? Each vitamin does something for us. The pituatary gland...no longer functions at the capacity it used to since the accident. Stands to good reason.
I upped my doesage....I feel better. I also know my Thyroid needs checked regularly...I'm prime for that problem as well not only because of my TBI but because of my Mother's history. I don't see a doctor to run all these tests. I google the problem and solve the problem myself. That doesn't work for everything...I probably should go have some tests run to find out more.
I'm now stocked up on my new vitamins - the B complex and also Magnesium in addition to the D. So I'm going to add each one individually & hopefully will be feeling improvement soon!

I just went to my doctor on Wednesday...a year ago all my blood work checked out fantastic. I haven't changed anything except...adding more physical activity. I've always taken vitamins each day. This last round of blood work is all screwed up. Why? My pituatary gland is not functioning as it should be. Very typical even if the injury is not shown in this area of the brain...for brain injured people. Multiple doctors agree...and you can find that information on the internet too if you want to.
Elanie...go by what you feel. If somethings not right by all means...get it checked out. We are responsible for our own health. I've read about Thyroid issues as well
better to know about it and get it under control...it can cause a whole other set of problems.
Looking forward to the sunshine myself...to catch up on that needed Vitamin D. I tell people I'm like a flower...need that sunshine!!
It makes sense that we need extra vitamins since our Pituitary gland isn't working as well.
