Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
I would say it and more without realizing I'd said it. It has gotten better, but I have to stop myself from saying anything as I get angry or upset and think about what it is I'm going to say. I literally bit the insides of my cheeks to keep my mouth shut after a good friend finally told me what I needed to hear.
Even though I didn't speak that way beefore it came out through TBI. I constantly have to watch my mouth because those words come out very easily now.
I have worked on it very hard and still do. I'm a professional and swearing...is not. One thing that helped me start was moving away from what upset me or was giving me pressure. Take a break from it get a hold of my self and come back. Sometimes I walked a few times before I learned the bite the inside of my cheeks and say nothing.
You work on it and you'll find your own way to help you remember. Good luck!
And now i noticed that even when not frustrated/angry, etc, I do just curse in normal conversation.
I really really need to work on this. So, you are not the only one!

Was Dx with IEED due to 3 TBI's. Hard 2 control my mouth under stress, & other x's things pop out out of nowhere.
This might be a bit over simplified i admit, but do a little research it's out there. Google search "Emotions" and "Executive Function".
