Frequently. I hear things a different way often then have tines where Im not sure egat happened in the last few minutes. Im not aware of ever having a siezure but am wondering if this is an absence. I call my husband if it gets very bad t touch base . Also got my mechanic to service car to reassure ne therebus nothing too wrong, it !s very troublesome to say the least. Tiredness exacerbates everything bad .

First prolonged absence seizure scared me so much. At shops.
Next one I learnt to sit quietly till over. Why I handed my drivers license back. They do leave you tired. I walked close places when not in car with hubby driving. Now I can barely walk with walker round home, have a disability scooter I can go to shops, library etc on. Quite enjoy it. Cant stop and look at a garden or view while driving down road. Don't have to find a park. And slower pace I find better now. Most people don't understand an absence seizure, so don't let them upset you.

I"m not sure if you're talking about anxiety and the need for reassurance or something else. I am super anxious about the car and hate to hear unfamiliar noises. Even when I know the noise is coming from the car ahead of me, my heart speeds up. In our last car the gas gauge would go from half full to empty in a heartbeat. I would call my husband to 'make sure" I had enough gas to get home. The car we have now has an automatic sensor that alerts you when one of the tires is low . I take it into the garage to have it filled up, and they always say the tire is fine. The last time I took them doughnuts to thank them! So yes, I get thrown off guard and need reality checks at times.

I also have seizures that can throw me off a bit as far as what I"ve accomplished ( "have I already washed the towels?) , but they don't affect my socializing or other abilities. Of course I've had them for 28 yrs and am used to dealing with them , so they're just a part of life.

The absence seizure sounds similar to what I went through. My doctor told me they were petite seizures. I remember they wouldn't last long but I felt as if I was going to pass out when they hit me. They actually occurred when I was driving my car too. But I was able to keep it under control due to the short length of them. I remember taking some kind of medication after that and I haven't had a seizure since then.

I feel its important not to let our differences define who we are. Its hard enough at times, so since being dx with an unknown hereditary ataxia. and to make it interesting for nuro, I am adopted, on top of everything else, I am not going to give in to all. Even when others don't understand this, and not common, I am still me, even if its a struggle everyday. We can do this.
