Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

I am having trouble with muscle tone. I have been in physical therapy for over a month and have made great improvement but my muscles still want to pull short on my right side. I read about botox shots to the areas inflected; has any one had this done for muscle tone issues? What has helped you? thx

I haven't but one of my patients has for spasticity. The best thing for it is not drugs or chemicals but activity. have the PT give you some thera putty and a stress ball and work those anytime your sitting around.

I have had an AVM in my head that went very bad. But anyways I also have been doing exercises for the past 11 years. Tone is a big issue, so much so I'm getting stretch marks around my stomach area. Doctors have told me that it's just fat, well that is just baloney. If I go to suck in my chest and stomach muscles, my belly will jiggle Jell-O. I have also noticed this in various parts of my body, like in my face when I am shaving, in my triceps, in my calves, elbows, thighs, etc... I'm sorry to say that PT will not help you. I have tried for several years, even with PT. I have also noticed that I am very flexible because of this, and yet I have been given, I believe it's EMGs to test my nerves with needles, and it has only shown that I have myopathy. Which is
the time it takes my brain to make that nerve move or twitch. But I believe it's more than just tone. Because I know I keep on getting weaker and weaker, example- lifting a gallon of milk Is more like 7 gallons of milk, moving something around that should be very light to do, and I must use all my strength just to move it. So I definitely know what you're going through and it is hard to explain this to the doctors. I think they think I'm a hypochondriac.
