Hi mcqn8, I'm so sorry for what has happened to your daughter, and the changes that TBI has on the whole family. Hugs to you!
I'm glad you found us, there is a wealth of info to be found in reading past threads, venting feelings whenever you need to, and lots of understanding from us...we are all in different stages of recovery from TBI/ABI...and we know how hard this is.

There is a website...brainline.org that has also been helpful for me..we are all so different that it's hard to understand what's happening and why?

There is also a caregiver's group called the Tea Room..if you look at the top..right on this page..look for the word *Groups* (under the word *Expert*) and clcking on there will be a list where you will see Tea Room.

Caregivers join in here too, we all try to share what helps, because it helps us all....doctors only know so much about this difficult journey...some doctors are really helpful...some not so much!

When I first joined, like I first mentioned, reading the past threads opened up a world of understanding for me that has been priceless, and I have not found that understanding anywhere else.

first i must say this is a great group of people here they have helped me so much. and im sorry to hear what has happened to your daughter.

but i do understand as i myself have had out bursts when stuff dosent go my way it has upset a few friends but i wish i could give you a answer as to why it happens

I hear you. My mom is my caregiver and helps me night and day, not with what you deal with, but with a multitude of everyday tasks after by cancer Dx. The changes are alot for a caregiver to take in. What do you do for you? Is there something relaxing you guys could do together?

Greetings, Quite often there is a valid reason for the outbursts but sadly our loved ones are unable to express why. Even asking them, 'is there a problem' may not elicit a response/answer. We found that we had to ask the right question, sometimes we fluked it, sometimes it was help from a therapist or it may be something that happened/said during an assessment that would help us to join the dots. I posted a comment recently about an OT suggesting a see through curtain - this helped my son with spatial awareness issues, as this took 15 years for it to surface well say no more.
We also visited a psychologist who asked us heaps of questions as to son's personality/behavior before and after accident and gave us suggestions of how to deal with our son. His suggestions worked a treat - but they were offered in response to answers we gave. Outbursts could also be related to noise - certain sounds/frequenciesor intolerance to noise of a certain type could be the catylst but alas he could not reason or tell us this. (hyperacuisus is name given to this, sorry unsure of spelling)
Bizzare but it may even be the colour or texture of a towet/facecloth that is being used which may be the culprit for outbursts in a bathroom. Sadly one never gets used to this aspect of brain injury - physical and cognitive being easier to accept - mood swings, personality changes, behavior problems, anger, abuse are something else and solutions harder to find.
