Brain Injury Support Group

Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

I know some of you have been having temperatures like this all summer. But, where I live (Portland, OR area) we don't get too many over 90 degree days.

So, nothing in particular in this post about TBI.

Feel free to post what you want on this thread!

I live on the east coast where it has been hot and humid until last few days of rain and cooler temps. I. don't know if you are sensitive to high temps. Elanie but I have to be in a/c or I can get sick, so just take it easy......your brain may need time to adjust. I'm not trying to scare you....I know a few people with B.I. and their body's thermostat doesn't work as well, so it's hard to cool down. Take care!

Don't worry Cheesecake - you're not scaring me - I have always been sensitive to high humidity/heat. The head injury makes it harder - much harder. But I am fortunate because we don't really get the humidity here.

Elaine Lanie...you live...where I was born!

The cooler fall weather has been setting in for about 3 weeks. I felt it before anyone else did. I was so enjoying the warm (hot to most) weather. It's been some times since I was warm enough to not wear a jacket! I am not ready for fall or worse...winter!

You are right Cheesecake...I broke my thermostat but...different than most. I'm stuck on 30 below zero ;-)

I've been to Portland, Oregon long ago.......beautiful area, wonderful big, sweet strawberries......remember Seaside, Oregon and great beaches.......I spoke up I think due to hurricane Irene.....we lost power for almost 2 days, no a/c, wires and trees down all over.....I'm so used to having it on....have not felt good since....wondering if my core temp. was high so I need to find a plan B if this ever. happens again......and we were lucky....some lost power for over a week! .........Sporty, wow I hope you live in the south....that's rough!!

I've lived in Virginia all my life and 2011 was the hottest summer I can remember. I can't do nothin outside in that heat ! I used to love the snow we got here when I was younger. But now, I am tired of it. It just makes a mess of things.

I hadn't thought about increased sensitivity to heat or cold as a BI issue. I used to be able to tolerate most any temp, but now too cool or hot bugs me. Especially hot, which can make me feel achy/sick.

I spend a lot more time in my one a/c room when I'm home; used to not even turn it on ('course I live by a river).

I'm SO glad it's cooing down here in central FL.
