Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
Do any of you get antsy while waiting for answers to unimportant questions? I"m ridiculous with the way I fret and overthink things instead of just waiting a few hours or days to find get a simple answer.
An example: My father in law died a few days ago. My daughter and her husband are on their way ( even as I"m writing this ) here from Georgia. At the moment they are 2 hours away and driving to the house. For three days I have been fretting over where they are going to sleep. They should go upstairs for privacy , but we don't heat the upstairs . On the other hand, they could sleep in our ( husband and I ) bedroom in the heated downstairs, but they wouldn't have a lot of privacy seeing that the room is right off the living room . ( We have an 11 room house and have closed the upstairs off since no one's living there) . Another choice would be to be in one of the smaller rooms upstairs, but they wouldn't be able to sleep together. Oh the horror of these decisions!
Of course while I"m constantly mulling this over in my mind, Rachel's response is "Don't worry. We'll decide when we get there". Well that helps a lot, It doesn't tell me what sheets to wash or whether to get out the electric blanket or not. And don't even get me going on comforters! ( And do I have to remind them not to put things on the electric blanket while it's on?)
Then there's food. Rachel's on the Paleo diet and eats a lot of meat, while Jeremy hates vegetables. So what on earth am I going to feed them?
The really crazy thing is that they're going to be here tonight, we'll be gone all day tomorrow ( no need to worry about food) , and they're leaving first thing Thursday morning! All this worry for 36 hours with them! Is anyone else like me? ( for your sake, I hope not )

I'm so sorry for your loss, the extra stress and anxiety must also be difficult for both you and your husband! Thoughts and Prayers for you all during this difficult time.
Its caused me to break down a few times because I become so overwhelmed. Try not to be so impatient with yourself. Im working on my behavior, but it's a work in progress, as living with a brain injury is a work in progress as well. Don't be afraid to speak up to your family members either! You can even joke and make light of the situation with something like, "ok, well, we all know how I am, so can you just decide where you'll be sleeping?!" ;) I wish the very best for you, and may God bless you always! :)
