Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
Thanks for the post.
Sounds like DovesWings lives in a hot climate as well. It's been 100 some days and super muggy. She's been to the urgent care clinic once, and sort cleared up, but now has a really noticably stuffy head and sick feeling. She coughs a lot in the mornings. But how would we know if this is a result from brain injury ?
Klassact - If she didn't have those issues before, I think it's safe to say it was caused by the TBI. (If you're talking about legally proving it, that's another story.)
I've always had allergies, but my allergies were in check at the time of the accident. Now, I get a lot of congestion and fluid in my head. After my TBI, I had swelling and tremendous amounts of fluid in my head. It had gone down after a long time - maybe a year? But now with summer I notice I'm getting some of the fluid issues again.
It's definitely annoying. I don't really want to take decongestants because that can increase other problems - like DovesWings mentioned - the hydration issues.
Mood wise, though, boy, the summer is great! :)

I am finding on hot muggy days Wade doesnt do as well, speach gaite resoning is all less than what it was, on betterdays he is back up to where he was. today was very roough for him..
It has been in the 80s around here.
Makes going out for a walk more possible.
I bumped into three dumb objects today- knee, elbow (which messed w/the shoulder, and backside (messes w/back).
None were too hard, but I was doing well before them.
Just need to move very slowly & pray w/o ceasing.
Thinking about it, so have I. LOL!
Maybe next year! :-)
I'm hoping you all have a terrific fall!
I seem to have more energy while in the sunshine, I'm finally...finally warm again. It took the high 80's to get me there...and I can already feel the first signs of autum no one else seems to notice as of yet.
wtd...thanks for the links; however...I don't sweat usually but then again...usually cool or cold to the touch.
I feel better...more alive. I guess...I need the sun more since TBI. I was a very outdoors person prior to and that hasn't changed.
I am noticing those signs of the changing season as well! The cold will be back before I am ready!!
My skull still features a flattened area on top that I believe could be greatly improved by more Neurocranial Restructuring procedures, as they have done in the past. Maybe the heat expands it a little - who knows.
I am much better than in years past, and so from that aspect summer's great.
