Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

Hormones & Headaches?

I've noticed that the head and ear pain I have flares up and is excruciating around that time of the month. Anyone else have this?

I don't think that's the brain injury, hon -- just getting older.

that's strange, never had that. I do find that hormonal imbalances do aggravate my symptoms however. I get really loopy and exhausted to name the two worst.

I've always had difficult periods pre-head-injury. So it's not really surprising I guess that it would cause anything I'm going through to be worse.

I hear ya! I don't want to remind myself either.

Usually I find headaches tend to be more about dehydration than anything, at least for me.

I super-hydrate, and I know what you mean, because I know what it's like to get a dehydration headache.

But this isn't that. This is the same head and ear pain from the accident, but at a screaming level due to hormones. Just part of the suckiness of the injury I guess.

Yes, I have noticed the same thing. I was actually going to ask my neuro about it. The day before and the first 2 days of my cycle are the worst and nothing I take for pain touches it.
