Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

Full moon

My head is bothering me and it's a full moon tonight, I don't have the memory to know whether or not it always bothers me on full moons. But the thought has just occured to me that if we (having brain injurys) are really sensitive to even weather changes could this be something that affects us as well? Comments are deeply appreciated.

There have been studies done that prove a full moon does influence a person's behavior. Even professional people like police and fire say that when it's a full moon, people do tend to act different than they normally would. You know what? I never thought of being sensitive to the weather could have something to do with head injuries. Because I am too. I have just joined this group, and it has helped me so much already. I might ask my doctor at my next appointment about this.

Actually I have heard that the full moon has no effect on people. Weather can of course. We all know how depressing the darker winter months can be for some but I doubt the fact that it was a full moon had anything to do with it. I think it was most likely jus a coincidence.
Not a nice one of course but I won't worry about that.
If you want to keep a diary of your mood and any pains you could to see is there any pattern. Perhaps that would help you deal with it.
But otherwise I think it is important for all to get some fresh air every day or as often as you can and eat a balanced diet, as this can help you too. Good luck.

Just ask a nursing home that cares for dementia patients, thats a brain injury sort of too. No calanders, ost wouldnt understand them as it is, staff close the curtains every late aftn so always the same, cant seee night sky. But a full moon and it is very different and they cant see to know. Some have very memorable nights in others beds, but cant recall any of it. A nurse sister told me about it when my mum was in the high care part. So does have an effect on some. I find it beautiful to look at.

I think I am going to stick with those who say there is no proof of a full moon having any effect on our moods but of course if others believe they have proof its up to each person what they believe.

We do have some control of our actions if we but try. I only wish...I had the same control over the changing of the weather!!

Nat, agree with you for the most part. However, ( and I say this "tongue in cheek") I know of a group the full moon affects. I live in a bedroom community of the University of ME. There are 6 guys living in the house across the street from me. This past week , with the full moon, there have been activities such as "who can howl loudest at the moon", etc.
Needless to say, between their music and howling, last week was a loud week. Thankfully there isn't going to be a blue moon ( two full moons in one month ) for another year.
