Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

I'm wondering if anyone else experienced "interesting" things about food since their accident?
Right after my accident, for about 6 weeks, I craved salt ALL THE TIME. This part kind of makes sense to me, because I could feel all this fluid at the back of my head (broken blood vessels).
After that time, I craved sweets like crazy. And when I say sweets, I mean things like glazed donuts. And I pretty much almost never ate things like that prior to the accident. But I literally was needing 1-2 glazed donuts a day for a period of time.
I also had this abhorence for dairy after the accident. Prior to the accident, I would eat dairy (yogurt, cottage cheese) every day. But it's been recently that my "normal" tastes have returned.
So how about you? Anyone have anything like this after their accident?

It's weird isn't it - the food cravings? But I think there is something medically to it. And, yeah the candy craving due to low energy makes sense.
lots of things taste super salty to me or not the same at all, or dont really have a taste. EVEN chocolate tastes funky to me. :( But I still crave sweets. One thing I HAVE TO HAVE is peanut butter. a spoonful a day.
Now I find that sweet foods taste overly sweet to me sometimes.
