Mine goes up and down proportionally to my headache, which is related to the blood pressure in my ears/head. sorry can't help you get rid of it but I have had mine for three months now and i don't usually notice it anymore. I do use sometimes as a warning device for when i have done too much (when it gets to a shrill whine i know i have to stop everything, even if part way through cooking a meal) so has been handy in that respect.

Thanks for the response Wendy. Ya I know mine isn't bp related, I have low bp so that wouldn't be the issue. But I have a feeling its to do with the meds I'm on but omg its now a constant thing and ever so painful. I've had to page the on call doc and he still hasn't gotten back to me. I've never had something like this but hopefully it will go away soon.

I don't have ringing all the time, but I have a problem with noise being painful. It doesn't take much volume for me to be keeled over in pain. They've diagnosed me with Hypercusis, and I think Tinnitus is similar. The Ear Specialist I'm going to deals only with Hypercusis & Tinnitus.

I'm awaiting a special ear piece for my injury. I'm not sure what can help specifically with Tinnitus, but I hope you get some help soon.

Mine do as well. If you want to know what the medical term is, it is "tinitus". My injury is just mild TBI, but the ringing was the loudest the first few days of my injury. I am partially deaf in my left ear so I can't even tell which side IS ringing. It rings from the time I get up to the time I go to sleep. Worst of all, it varies in pitch and volume and goes crazy when a big headache or a migraine has set in.

Mine has been ringing for 5 years now. You might want to get use to it, maybe?

Elanie, ya I heard of tinnitis before, I'm pretty sure that's what I have but it just started after I began the topamax so I'm wondering if its cause of this stuff but who knows.

Kazual, the docs never said there isn't anything for it? I can't imagine having this for the rest of my life, I am literally going out of my mind and not to mention what it might me doing to my hearing cause the pitch does fluctuate at times too.

Yeah, I do think both Tinnitus and Hypercusis can be brought on by meds as well as injury.

That obviously would be a good thing, because then you could switch meds :)

I WISH that was the cause of mine - but unfortunately I suffered inner ear damage from the accident.

mine was from meds/stuff they pumped into me @ hopsital. Music or background noise minimizes it. I used some drops to remove excess wax which seems to accumulate post tbi (I bled out ears for 3ish weeks right after tbi) & I seem to be able to hear better after I do that. Also I live in Ca, so my medical marijuana helps lol, probably anything to change the focus. For work I play online poker & I play/focus better w/o music but sometimes the tinnitus gets loud & irritates me bad, so distracting music & smoking pot is better for me IMO than being uber angry all the time.. Check the tinnitus forum here, I'm member & there's lotsa good info on it same as here... Salt intake also adds to ringing I've heard/noticed..

I can already see my family asking why I'm lighting up a joint in my room lmao..oh its for my tinnitus lol...sure it is...that's alright..i've hurt my head enough.id rather not bake myself and fry more brain cells than I have to...I'll opt to just switch meds lol but that was pretty funny lol thanks for the advice tho!

I've had tinitus for 17 years, but it died down except before sleep.

Until the TBI/PCS. A few months ago it hit levels from 17 years ago & is holding- so far.

I have constant noise too, have had during my whole 17 years. I have a daily hot hot shower as therapy. I just run the hot water out, blasting as hot as I can stand - almost turns it off. Loosens up other areas of tension about my skull and neck as well.

I've also had session of NCR which addresses damage to the skull after which I had 48 hours of blissful silence. I know it has to do with my head injury. I've had all the hearing tests and all and my hearing is fine. I think of it as 'brain noise'

Occasionally, i'll have a day that for whatever rhyme or reason it's silent, but they are rare. The last one was a morning last week where i did a 15 mile bike ride early? Later on I noticed the silence. Haven't tried to repeat that but I sure did enjoy it.

I tell people it sounds forceful, like jets on the tarmac all around you, or like the sound of an outboard engine in a boat, a constant force.
