amen to that. I am having a really hard time of it. My ability to remain 'connected' to people is so disabled, my life has become quite empty.

I'm sorry Drambuie that you too are having a hard time w/it. And you've had to deal with it for so much longer than I have.

i also would love a day off. i am terrified of becoming a recluse, but i just cannot relate to my "friends". i just want to spend one day with everybody i've lost due to this frustrating injury. i would tell them all how much i love and value them (and beg them not to treat me so differently now). best of luck to you.

Yes it does feel like its never ending doesn't it. I find its good to be busy all the time. Less time with nothing to do is good as it means less thinking time and that works best for me.

I imagine it would feel like a brilliant moment of lucidity before declining again, just like in one of those melodramatic movies.

I'm still pretty early into my injury (4 months), and so I haven't processed that it is permanent yet, so I'm still pretty turbulent. I'm still hoping for improvement, but I don't know how much to expect.

drambuie62- I am having the same issues with people. I used be socially awkward, but very emotional, so much so that I tried to block it out. Now my empathy is damaged, as are my self-generated emotional reactions. So it feels very empty and lonely, and I don't feel that "human" connection with people anymore, even though I desire their company. (You know the feeling when you meet a new person and you just "click" with them, but not others? That is missing. And while I can hang out and enjoy chatting with anyone now, there's no feeling of a deeper connection with anyone.)

I hang out with different people in order to actually experience moods "through them." (I do the same with music.) Otherwise I cannot feel.

scrambled, I relate well, and I don't desire peoples company but when I want it, not on their schedule. So, I just make sure I am in control of that and I am so happy. If you live by people you love and let go of people who are not really "friends" then you are in the perfect social setting. Chat people up via email, web, phones", stay connected yet detached................." Elaine" I would like a day off from the pain. I am happy, but always in pain. I just learned to live with it. The post is great and your a great member.

I know what you mean. Every since my husbands wreck it has been one thing after another. It is endless, and nobody understands!!! We feel isolated from everybody and everything! It gets old fast!!

A day off wouldbe awonderfulgift for y son too,I wish he would go socialize on his own ,haslost so many of hisoldfriends hehas goodones andseveral cousins.Hisdaysarepretty long.
