There is so much anger and frustration to say the least when I get a contradictory diagnosis period. I don't know much about Fibromyalgia, but I do know it is steeped in pain like arthritis, migraines ,etc. Some diagnosis's take putting together the facts from the patient with instincts and know how from the doctors and they have to use the ability to put the clues together. Not everything is clean cut and that is frustrating for everyone; but some doctors have horrible bedside manners; so if I were you I would get a second opinion right away. My ins. co pays for them out of my normal coverage and I don't even pay a co-pay. It is worth the piece of mind, plus nothing matters more than health.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have fibromyalgia ( I just had blood tests yesterday because it's getting worse ) . That is Not the same as a brain injury. Remember, this doctor's specialty is joints, etc, so will dismiss others diagnoses . I"m with Anita, you need to see a different doctor.

One thing I will mention ( although you may not need to hear this ) : get to know yourself and your body/brain so well that you can defend yourself to doctors . My neuro while I was in college taught me to know my body so that I could disagree with doctors because I knew they were wrong. ( He also taught me to fire or not return to doctors that wouldn't listen to me ) . It's funny, my doctors now allow me to change / adjust medications myself ( have to notify them when I do it ) because they realize I know my system better than they do .

You have the right to be assertive with doctors. Remember , you're paying them , so you have the right to be heard. If you think you're getting any sort of runaround from one of them, get a different doctor, and (nicely) tell the first doctor that you had a problem with his/her advice and needed another person's opinion. They can't argue with that. I hope you find the best doctor(s) for what you're dealing with . Once you do, life will be so much easier. Hugs to you . - Holly

Thank you for your support - still feel very sad and overloaded. However, did talk to my O.T. who is coming round today. She said much the same as you both did in he was making judgements outside of his speciality and that my neuropsychologist had already made a diagnosis of brain injury and I should keep with that. Agreed that I need to talk to someone else about the joint problem in time. I think I felt also very bullied by his opinions and couldn't think quickly enough to counter these - so part of my problem is feeling I didn't say what I thought clearly enough - or at all even! Anyway thanks again. Feeling very fragile this week.
