Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.

My Speech Therapist gave me a little card when I finished speech therapy & did a little "ceremony" in her office. I really appreciated it (although I think my brain was still a little too foggy to acknowledge it.)
I know, sometimes, just getting out of the house has been hard. Or, meeting up with someone knowing I'm going to have to deal with the noise pain I have.
And I look back at the accolades I used to receive in the workplace. And I sort of laugh, thinking of how much harder this journey has been than all the other accomplishments I previously achieve in my career.
And there is no standing ovation when you force yourself to get out to the mall or whatever new goal you have set for yourself.
So I wanted to take a moment and give that applause to you, my dear friends, and fellow travelers on this road.
Thanks for posting this one. We all need that recognition, yet rarely get it. We all need to do a Victory dance for the many accomplishments we have overcome! Congrats to ALL! :)
