Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
Ah the joys of living in a house built in 1916! Despite our efforts to remodel and insulate the the heck out of the house, there are still crevices that bats get into , not to mention other wildlife.
Currently we are being visited by squirrels that have fallen down our chimney and are making a home in the insulation. ( We're getting rid of them today) . I assume it's them, but my allergies have really been acting up."Fred" and "Ethel" have been here about a week, and I"ve been taking benedryl twice a day for allergies. The second day I took it, I didn't get a thing done, and by the third day I felt really confused. So I did some digging:
Diphenhydramine ( active ingredient in any allergy med) should Not be taken by people with tbi. It causes confusion, and can lead to memory loss and the inability to form new memories. Heaven knows I don't want that, and thought I'd share this info with you all. I wish you all well, and may you live in squirrel-free homes!

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been staying away from it since finding the connection to depression. If you want to do a a scary search, use the words Benadryl and psychosis.

Thanks holly, Years ago I took it...and when I looked in a mirror I remember how messed up my vision was....like everything around me was in *3D*....strange and very scary, so I have stayed far away from it since that experience!! Yikes!

I cannot take benadryl. I can take a little 4 hour antihistamine that is chlorpheneramine maleate, a generic. It does come in name brands as 24 or 12 hour antihistamines. Can't take those.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
