Brain Injury Support Group
Traumatic brain injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage. TBI can result from a closed head injury or a penetrating head injury. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain. Outcome can be anything from complete recovery to permanent disability or death. A coma can also affect a child's brain.
I've had a lot of similar types of experiences. We really don't know what we can or can't do unless we try. So first of all - GOLD STAR to you for this effort! Some people wouldn't even try.
And - one positive - the fact, honestly, that you recognize what you are not capable of means you are able to self-analyze.
I'm not back to paid work yet - I've had many hurdles thrown my way. But I keep trying & know that it will come together at some point.
I'm somewhere between Cheesecake88 and ElanieLanie. I have paralyses and am starting to walk a bit after a year and /half of limping from bedridden, to wheel chairs, to walkers, to now. I can actually use my computer again pretty well. In fact, I'm rediscovering brief periods where I feel efficient again. It lasts about 15 minutes. I feel like if I keep it up, maybe I can increase it, but I know it will end after an hour to a few. At least for now I am not excited because I have tried like you, only not at a job, but at home. I have tried tasks here and have not been able to get all the way through, so I write down where I was when it all went to hell. It usually doesn't end nicely. I get peeved and tend to start drawing blanks out of frustration so I have to breath deeply or watch TV for a minute to distract my thinking. Then I'm fresh and it takes me a second. Then things turn around in a pattern. I seem to do things in patterns. It is nice to meet you.
